Cherry Burl Cutting Boards

In 2014 I was given a stack of Cherry Burls that were harvested off a friend’s property in Farmington, Maine. The figure in this wood is amazing, and I have created many cutting boards for charity auctions and customers. Every burl is different, so I start by taking a photograph of the slab, and then I draw the shape over top of the photo in Autocad. This allows me to maximize the use of the character of the wood. Finally, the cutting board is cut out on a CNC waterjet, sanded, and finished.
